Bayard Friedman Tennis Complex
Fort Worth, Texas

TCU wished to design and build the nation’s most attractive public/private college tennis complex and stadium in the country within a budget of $1.5 million. It retained Tennis Planning Consultants, Inc. (TPC) to handle all design, engineering and landscape design for the 22 full sized public courts, 6 oversized college stadium competition courts and 5 indoor courts with tennis clubhouse. The project opened in 1976 with a new and unique recessed, sunken court design that was immediately described as one of the most exciting tennis projects ever conceived. The complex won the most outstanding tennis facility award by the United States Tennis Association in both 1988 and 1998, the only project to have ever won this award twice.

“Its beauty is unmatched across the country. To think that you have created a facility that improves with age is unheard of. As the surrounding trees age and the flowers bloom with each season, the facility becomes more and more beautiful with each passing year.”
